Social Service Programs from JFS Orlando
Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando (JFS Orlando) is a nonprofit social services organization serving Central Florida communities. Headquartered right here in our home city of Winter Park, FL, its dedicated staff provides a variety of social and emergency assistance to low-income local residents.
We believe the services offered by the caring team at JFS Orlando would be of value and of interest to some of our tenants, as well as many others in our region. So, here's a quick overview of the main programs and assistance offered by the organization.
JFS Orlando's Family Stabilization Program
The Family Stabilization Program is a free 6-month case management program for individuals and families living in Orange and Seminole Counties struggling with financial instability and/or at risk of becoming homeless. Participants take part in a tailored program to improve self-sufficiency. They may receive financial assistance for basic needs, personalized financial counseling, money management instruction, skills and employability training, mental health counseling, and other help.
This signature program of Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando has helped many Central Florida people and families turn dire situations around. Just in the program year completed at the end of September 2015, the Family Stabilization Program successfully served 109 people in 33 local families; 58 of them were children, and almost half were households headed by single mothers.

JFS Orlando's Counseling, Growth, and Development Program
Through JFS Orlando, area residents can access mental health counseling on a sliding scale fee structure, with most insurance accepted. Licensed clinical therapists offer individual, couple's, family, and group counseling in a comfortable atmosphere. These services can make an enormous difference if you're struggling to overcome hardship or push through difficult life changes or transitions.

JFS Orlando's Pearlman Emergency Food Pantry
Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando strives to reduce the burden of hunger in Central Florida. Area residents in need may receive food assistance once every six months through the Pearlman Food Pantry. In recent years, the program has served about 65,000 meals annually to locals. Also, the pantry is always accepting donations of nonperishable food items to assist with these efforts.

JFS Orlando's Reliable Independent Drivers for the Elderly Program
The RIDE program provides free round-trip transportation to medical appointments for seniors age 65 and up in the region. This service facilitates access to healthcare in a way that promotes greater independence and quality of life. Individuals can get two free rides per month, and they can be used for various doctor and dentist appointments, as well as prescription pickup.
